The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) passed a resolution in 2000 opposing the placement of cell towers on or immediately adjacent to school property, and then in 2009 passed a stronger resolution, again raising concerns about the "long-term health effects of low-frequency electromagnetic and radio-frequency emissions [from cell towers]." Many prominent organizations and individuals endorsed the 2009 LAUSD Resolution. Among the endorsements was a powerful letter from Dr. Martin Blank, Associate Professor of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University.
